It’s not often that athletic brands in two different sports industries get to mix, but this mashup was almost a no-brainer and turned out to be a great success.
On November 10th, the evening of our 3rd Fall Fundraiser, we collaborated with Burton Snowboards to cross-pollinate interest between the lacrosse and snow communities in NYC. There are plenty of families in the city that love to get away to the mountains for weekends, when they can. Some of these same families also are involved in lacrosse in New York, so enticing them out to a lacrosse fundraiser at a snowboard shop for our cause made a lot of sense. Burton was kind enough to offer up their flagship location in Soho, which is essentially a 2-level, snow lodge decked out with their amazing gear (discounted by 35% for this private occasion).
We were also fortunate enough to have wood stick maker, Wood Lacrosse Sticks, come up from Philly and be a part of the night. This was the icing on the cake, because WLS brought about 10 wooden sticks that they beautifully displayed along side awesome Burton apparel. And they even went the extra mile by carving and stringing one of their authentic wood sticks while the event was in progress. They fit right into the aesthetic of the shop to the point that many people thought they were part of the Burton brand. Nope- just another testament to the fact that this was a great collaboration.
The event lasted from 6-9pm, and in that time about 100 people came through and enjoyed music by Brooklyn’s own Dj Evil Dee and Mr. Walt (Da Beatminerz), food by Dean and DeLuca, and drinks sponsored by Six-Point (also out Brooklyn). Burton made a ton of sales and donated 5% back to BLC for our cause.
Wood Lacrosse Sticks out the video below together, which captured the night very well. We’ll be doing it again next year, so stay tuned!
